Q: What is SafetyLine?
A: SafetyLine is a cross-platform, cloud-based lone worker monitoring solution that empowers organizations and employees alike to ensure workers’ safety and quickly handle emergencies when they happen.
Q: Why do I need to use SafetyLine?
A: When working alone, it is important to have systems in place to get you help if you're in trouble. Lone worker monitoring solutions need to be used within the workplace because Provincial regulations exist for employees working alone or in isolation. For more details, please click here.
Q: I don't want my employer tracking me everywhere I go. Will SafetyLine be used to monitor my every location while I'm on the clock?
A: SafetyLine is not intended to be used as a real-time live monitoring service (such as security cameras, or GPS live-tracking of delivery vehicles). GPS data is sent to SafetyLine at the time of check-in (or, more frequently if GPS Breadcrumbs are activated) solely to provide your monitors context to your last known location if you were to encounter an emergency. Due to the nature of the systems involved, this location information is not always 100% accurate, and cannot be relied upon for real-time tracking. Because of this, we strongly encourage leaving additional context for your current and next expected location via text or voice at time of check-in.
Q: Will the police / emergency services be called when I miss a check-in?
A: No. SafetyLine does not and will not contact emergency services. When you miss a check-in, SafetyLine sends you automated warnings of an upcoming missed check-in via phone call and email. If you do not check-in within this grace period, the monitors that are assigned to you within SafetyLine begin getting notified. The assigned monitors themselves then proceed with the emergency protocols set by your company. For more information, please visit our article on Emergency Types.
Q: SafetyLine's emergency notifications are too quiet / too loud. Can I adjust them?
A: We understand that, for some, Emergency Notifications could be more noticeable in order to cut through all the clutter--but we also understand there may be some situations in which sounding an emergency could put you in danger. Notification sounds, along with enabling or disabling emergency sounds and vibrations, can be customized by following our guide here.
Q: SafetyLine is inconvenient to use while I'm in the field. Are there other ways I can check-in?
A: Aside from the SafetyLine Apps for Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac, you can also login via the Web at https://slmonitor.com, or assign SafetyLine as a speed-dial to check-in with the press of a button. If consistent data or phone connection is an issue, SafetyLine can also be integrated with SPOT and inReach satellite devices, and can be used as long as you have a clear view of the sky.
