Configuring your SPOT X device with SafetyLine

SafetyLine can be integrated with your SPOT X device, allowing you to remain safe and monitored even when outside of cell range.

1. Ensure you are on the SPOT Mapping Enterprise Plan. If not, you will need to upgrade your plan with SPOT before proceeding.
   
   
2. After the SPOT Mapping Enterprise Plan is active, please email [e-mail] with your ESN number and a request to enable the SPOT API on your account. Support will then notify you of completion within 1 - 2 business days.
   
   
3. When Step 2 has been completed, a new tab labelled "Data Push" will appear within the top navigation bar of your SPOT portal. Navigate to the "Data Push" tab, then select Edit. Select "Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS)" from the Protocol dropdown menu, add https://deviceapi.slmonitor.com/spot in the URL field, and select Update.
   
   
4. Once updated, navigate to the "My Devices" tab and select the device you would like to configure. Select "Edit Settings"
   
   
5. Select "Predefined Messages" then "Create a New Predefined Message" to configure your desired preset messages. Ensure you check off the "Sync"  and "Save" box for each predefined message created.  A list of available messages are provided at the bottom of this article. Once completed, select Save to finalize the changes.
   
   
6.  Select "Check In" and enter the Predefined Message !report-OK in the "Message to Send" box. Underneath you will see a "Send Message to" section. Create First Name: "Safety" and Last Name: "Line". Enter "[e-mail]" within the email section.
   
   
7. Next, select "My Contacts" and create a contact called "SafetyLine", and assign it the email address [e-mail]. This contact will be the one receiving your preset messages from Step 5, which will trigger various SafetyLine commands.
   
   
8. Plug in your device and connect to your SPOT sync software to update your device with all new changes made.
   
   
9. Add your ESN number to the "Satellite Device" section of your SafetyLine profile.

Predefined Messages

• Please note that the Predefined Message format must be exact in order for the SafetyLine commands to work. For example, !report-OK will perform a Check-in command, while !report OK will fail. Please ensure all symbols, words, and spaces are configured properly.
  
  
• Please note the first three Predefined Messages listed below are mandatory to configure.
  
  
• Please note that you can only have a maximum of 14 preset messages at a time.

Predefined Message	Function
!report-OK	[Mandatory] Performs a Check-in command.
!report-END	[Mandatory] Performs an End Monitoring command.
!report-EMERGENCY	[Mandatory] Triggers a Panic Emergency, notifying all Monitors right away.
!report-OK Example text.	Performs a Check-in command that includes additional information. (Example: !report-OK Starting my shift.)
!report-OK-120	Performs a Custom Check-in command to a custom time (in minutes). The "120" can be adjusted to any number of minutes below the user's default check-in interval.
!report-TEXT Example text.	Leaves additional text information without performing a command. (Example: !report-TEXT Running late to Site B.)
!profile-ITINERARY Example text.	Performs a command which updates the user's Itinerary within SafetyLine. (Example: !profile-ITINERARY Heading to Site B at 13:00.)
