Configuring the SPOT X
• Begin by logging into your SPOT portal and selecting the SPOT X device you wish to configure (Click here for a guide)
• Once on your device page, you will need to select "Check-in" and enter "I am OK" followed by your ESN number.
Next, we will need to add SafetyLine Messages as a contact. To do so simply click "My Contacts" and then "Create new contact"
Add a contact named "SafetyLine" and assign it the email address "api@safetyline.ca". This will allow the SPOT X to communicate with your SafetyLine account.
Finally, we will need to add the " I need HELP" and "I need to END MONITORING" commands. You can do so by clicking on "Predefined Messages" and then "Create a New Predefined Message". Remember that both of these commands need the SPOT X's ESN number similar to how we configured the "I am OK" message.
Next, you will need to add the SPOT X's phone number (or MDN) followed by "@textmyspotx.com" to your email notifications. You can find your SPOT X phone number by going into your device, selecting "System Settings" and then "SPOT X Info".
Using the SPOT X
Note: Before attempting to use the SPOT X make sure that you have run the sync tool to verify that all current configurations have taken effect.
• Performing a Check-in on the SPOT X is as simple as navigating to the "Check-in" button on your device and clicking the middle button". You'll be able to see all your Check-in commands under "Messages"
• Sending an End Monitoring and a Help command works a bit differently than the Check-in command. To perform these you will want to go to "Messages" and then "Predefined". Once here select either the End Monitoring or the Help message and click next. You will be given the option to select who to send this to, select SafetyLine Messages from this list. Navigating back to "Messages" will allow you to see all the messages you have sent to SafetyLine.
Note: Make sure you test your device to ensure all configuration steps have been properly done before using it in a real-world situation
