Testing the SafetyLine app is an important part of validating your company’s health and safety procedures and confirming that your account configuration is working as expected. This guide walks you through the recommended process for conducting a complete and accurate test.
Select a user
Begin by choosing one user who will complete the full testing process. To test each group within the account, you can choose one user per group for the testing process. Ensure the user can login using email or Microsoft Login.
Before starting, ensure that this user’s profile information is accurate and up to date, including:
• Email address
• Phone number
• Assigned monitors
Correct user information is essential for validating notifications and escalation pathways. This can be updated within the users settings.
Review group Monitors and Escalation Protocols
Next, review the settings tied to the user’s group (Click here for a step-by-step guide on Monitor Notifications.):
• Confirm the group monitors are correct
• Ensure the escalation protocol matches your organization’s requirements (who the monitors are, the delay between each monitor in the group etc.)
• Verify each monitor’s contact details (email address and phone number)
These details directly affect where alerts are sent during the testing process.
Perform a Custom Check-in
The designated test user should now complete a custom check-in. (Click here for a step-by-step guide on custom check-ins.)
⚠️Important:
The check-in duration must be at least 25 minutes.
Any check-in set for less than 25 minutes is considered high risk, and the system will bypass your escalation protocol.
Instead, it will call all monitors simultaneously, which will not reflect your true escalation sequence.
Using a 25-minute (or longer) check-in ensures you are accurately testing your escalation setup.
Leave a check-in message that states "Testing"
Allow the System to Run Normally
Once the custom check-in is active, allow the system to proceed without interference.
During the test, the user will receive the standard sequence of notifications:
• In-app reminders
• Phone call reminder
• Email notification
These alerts help confirm that all contact points are configured correctly.
Grace Period
If the user does not check in when due, the system initiates a 10-minute grace period.
During this time:
• Only the user receives additional reminders
• Monitors are not contacted
• The test user may still check in at any time to cancel the process
Escalation to Monitors
When the 10-minute grace period expires and the user still has not checked in, SafetyLine begins contacting monitors according to the configured escalation protocol.
To fully confirm that your escalation path is functioning:
• Monitors should not acknowledge or respond to the emergency
• Allow the system to contact each monitor in order, following the escalation chain on file
This verifies that the escalation logic and all monitor contact methods are working correctly.
Once every monitor has been contacted, the test user can check out to stop the process and close the event.
This completes the full end-to-end test of your SafetyLine configuration.
⚠️Important: Too speed up notification testing, you can use custom 25 minute check-in for normal check-in and an 11 minute custom check-in to test notifications.
